Well, it happened! I am now the official owner/servant to two more gliders! As I mentioned a few weeks ago, a young lady had decided to rehome her two gliders. I got in touch with her and we decided that I’d take them.
So a week ago, I found myself in a crowded minivan with my family on a road trip! Long story short, after a lot of driving and sightseeing, I picked up my new babies. They are beautiful, you guys. We brought them home and got their big cage set up. They are both super sweet (though shy) and I’m excited to bond with them and to watch them learn to trust me.
Let me introduce you to the babies…
Yiska
Yiska is a neutered White Face Blonde male. He’s a couple months under a year. He is very shy of human interaction. He’s laid back and allows Ilona to be the dominant glider!
His name is a Navajo name that means “end of night”. I really like it the meaning and the reminder that there is always an end to night, no matter how long the night lasts.
Ilona
Ilona is a luecistic female. She’s just over a year. She is immensely curious and has endless energy. The day after I got her, she was already climbing on my arms by her own choice and not running from me. ❤
Her name is a Hungarian name that means “light”. I love how well it goes with Yiska’s name – his is a reminder of the coming morning and hers is a reminder of the light that comes after the darkness. It’s really pretty as well. ❤
Well friends, I have lots more to say about bonding, how crowded my room is with two cages, Ink’s neuter and other random things, but I’ll save that for other posts. For now, have a wonderful day!
