A Tale Of The Barking Glider

A couple nights ago, I was getting ready to play with Ink and Dreamer. As it is, I still have the pairs separated – Ink and Dreamer in one cage, Ilona and Yiska in the other. In any case, I’d just taken Ink and Dreamer out of their cage when the A/C turned on. It spooked Ilona and she started barking like crazy. I did all I could to calm her down, but it just made it worse. She was so jumpy.

So I gave up on helping her and went back to Ink and Dreamer. They were both sitting frozen in fear. I picked them up. Ink shot down my shirt and went to work grooming himself. Dreamer was so cute, though. My little bundle of energy jumped in my lap, curled up in a ball and let me pet her. It was so sweet!

Isn’t that adorable? She does NOT like to be cuddled and never did this before. I was melting!

One of the reasons that gliders bark is to warn other gliders that there is a threat. So it was really neat to see that both Ink and Dreamer came to me as their safe place when Ilona sounded the “warning”. (Apparently the A/C is dreadfully dangerous in their little minds.)

Ilona barked non stop for twenty-five minutes. TWENTY FIVE MINUTES, you guys. I normally work on memorizing psalms at night, but I could not concentrate with the sharp bursts of noise. 😂 I just ended up petting Dreamer. She stayed with me like that for our whole hour of normal play time. It was so sweet.

(This is a terrible sound to hear in the middle of the night…LOL. Especially when I’ve just finally fallen to sleep.)
